TOTÓ MARQUÉS WITH HIS PRADES 950 PROJECT (PRADES, TARRAGONA)
Totó Marqués is a family winery, with its own vineyards with the CCPAE organic cultivation certificate, which since 2015 has been dedicated to the cultivation of vines and the production of red wines in Poboleda, Priorat.
Recently, a wine project has been started in Prades, one of the few municipalities in Catalonia classified as a "charming" town, belonging to the Baix Camp region, and located at an altitude of about 950 metres.
They began with the planting of 4 hectares of vineyards in 2008, on a farm that is located in the center of the Poblet forest, on the slopes of the Prades Mountains and on licorella soil. A mirror of its plots in Priorat. There is data that the monks of the Poblet monastery grew grapes on the same farm before phylloxera.
Its action plan is based on recovering cultivation areas towards higher altitudes and the recovery of grape varieties, prioritizing irrigation and sustainable soil management. They reuse by-products of the production process to improve biodiversity and soil organic matter, and use the most sustainable type of oenology and technology to improve the environmental footprint, as well as the production of their wine based on recyclable materials (the 100% of the packaging and marketing products are recyclable: labels, boxes, bottles, caps...).
With the Vinventions Angel program, Totó Marqués will be helped with the conditioning of the vineyard, taking advantage of pruning residues and the use of recyclable materials for the expedition of its new white wines.
